In recent years, the global meetings industry has begun to recognise Africa as a sought-after destination. Meetings Africa, hosted in the Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton (Johannesburg), showcases Africa’s diverse offering of services and products where African associations and African meetings industry professionals can partner to help transform the continent.
IAPCO members are very much encouraged to participate in this show, either to meet or connect with a wide variety of potential partners from South Africa and elsewhere on the African continent, or simply to gauge Africa’s suitability for your meeting.
IAPCO members will be given preference in terms of their applications to participate in the Meetings Africa Hosted Buyer Programme. Requirements for application are available here and include a track record of working outside of your immediate geographic region and an interest in South Africa as a destination for your clients. The entitlements are an economy class airfare and accommodation for the duration of the show and a post-show ‘destination discovery tour’. The expectation is 20 pre-booked meetings over the course of the show.
It is anticipated that applications will close on 15 January 2015. Please send an expression of interest email to firstname.lastname@example.org to begin the application process. Please note that airfares must be purchased by the hosts (they do not accept refund requests), so booking your own ticket in advance and thereafter requesting a refund will not be permissible.
